THE HELMET, SWORD & SHIELD

"Alive Forevermore!"

“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Revelation 1:18 (KJV)

The holy testimony and divine affirmations of both Old Testament prophecy and New Testament confirmation reports to us that the Lord Jesus Christ is not only “alive;” but, explicitly “alive forevermore!”

Now, this being the case, does it not behoove us to seriously ponder the enormous implications that these sure realities have on our lives both in the present, and more distinctly in eternity future?

Does not the explicit reality mean that we cannot contemptuously dismiss Him or blasphemously ignore Him as a person of utter irrelevance, as too many millions have foolishly done in the past, and untold millions continue to do in the present?

Dare we (i.e. both Christ followers and lost unbelievers) continue to scoff at and mock at the far reaching implications of everything that has been declared by God the Son in the eternal record of Holy Scripture?

Are we not listening to Him who yet lovingly, mercifully, and explicitly is compelling us to deeply consider the sheer immensity of His solemn title affirmation? Again, in Revelation 1:18, He declared: “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Note again, He unequivocally affirmed: ”I am alive for evermore,”

Now, “What is really being implied here? You ask. Simply the unavoidable surety of what Apostle John prophetically reported earlier in the opening verses (vv. 7-8) of chapter one: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."

PRESENT IMPACT, PENDING IMPLICATIONS

Whether we recognize it or not, the Lord’s sin-atoning and triumphant victory on the Cross at Calvary (i.e. His sacrificial death, burial and glorious resurrection), has far reaching eternal implications on the souls of every individual born into this world.

In John 12: 46-48 the Savior further solemnly explained: “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. “And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. “

PERSONAL CONTEMPLATIONS

With the elapse of more than 2100 years since the Lord Jesus completed the foretold work of sin-atoning redemption, countless numbers of souls have been mercifully and supernaturally transformed (regenerated- “born again”) and rescued from an eternal destiny of punitive condemnation, and freed from the appointed assignment to the eternal, woeful domain Scripture refers to as “the Lake of Fire and Brimstone.”  (Rev. 20:10, 15)

Now the pending eternal questions confronting each of us are:”Have you repented of your sins; “believed the Gospel; and been transformed by the power of God?”

THE LIVING LORD

The Risen Savior (Jesus Christ) is the Living Lord, and as even before He ascended back into glory, He had emphatically affirmed in Matthew 28:18b: “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

In others, the entirety of His creation should fully recognize that He is the absolute Supreme Sovereign that possesses complete authority over “all.” Moreover, in this last book of holy Scripture, He further reinterested and expanded on this hugely critical distinction by futher informing us: “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

Too, let us not forget the follow-up authoritative point of fact that He highlighted: “and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Hence, we are made aware of the fact that He exercises absolute supremacy over the greatest physical and eternal nemesis of humanity; namely Death and Hell. And, each of these eternal powers have a rightful claim on each of us because of our inherent (and subsequently willful) fallen sinful condition.

Hence, our spiritual/redemptive relationship with the Living Lord is also absolutely essential both now and for all eternity. Consequently, we should wisely, heartily and deeply ponder the present life path that we have elected to follow.

The Living Lord has forewarned every generation of humanity in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Again, here we are compelled to consider that this grand declaration brings into full view the complete comprehensive impact of the matter of sin and its affect both on our lives and in our world; and the sure reality that the “sin problem” in the universe will ultimately be addressed.

  The Book of Rememberance
“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.” Malachi 3:16
