THE HELMET, SWORD & SHIELD

He Already Had Everything He Needed

“And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.”

Exodus 4:1

It is quite an understatement to cite the fact that the accounts regarding the commissioning of Moses and Apostle Paul both lie that the opposite poles of an enthusiasm continuum.

Regarding Apostle Paul, clearly, we observed a heart of prompt readiness that was humbly prepared to do the bidding of the one that mercifully re-directed his destructive path and graciously called him into the sphere of eternal salvations.

But, on the other hand regarding Moses, we observed an individual that become so spiritually broken that he refused to muster up that minimum measure of faith that would jump-start his heart into motion prepared to do as the Most High had commanded.

Perhaps we should take a moment to pause here and personally consider the probing question, “Where would I be presently found on this continuum scale?”

Would the Lord consider us as humbly willing, fearfully reluctant or perhaps, flatly rebellious?

Moses persisted in his effort of reluctance, seeking to disqualify himself from the divine commission to which he was being appointed by thirdly rendering the excuse of lacking viable or believable authenticating credentials of divine authority.

Now whereas the important matter of receiving sanctioned authority from Heaven is understandably paramount, Moses’ use of this as a justifiable objection had no valid basis whatsoever.

The Lord had already addressed the first two objections that Moses had raised. And thus, as shown in the closing statement of verse 16, the presumption was that he was now sufficiently equipped to go forth and perform his appointed assignment.

Notice closely that the Lord declared: “Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt.”

There is little question that we must always be fully aware of our innate limitations and inabilities to execute the service of divine will through mere natural means.

However, God’s Word continually reminds us that Almighty God is our all-powerful ally and that our resources are supernatural in origin, like Moses’ Rod.

In 2 Corinthians 10:4 we are instructed: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” And, in Ephesians 6:10b we are commanded: “be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

Then, in Ephesians 6:13 we are firmly charged: “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Too, it is completely true that our divine provisions have no natural aesthetically visual appeal.
But, beyond the obscurities of natural vision and perception that which is embedded in the provisions of Heaven that have been imparted to us is immensely mightier than we can possibly envision.

Purposely, in 1 Corinthians 1:27-28 we are plainly taught: “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

“And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.”

Hence, routinely, our petition to Heaven should be that the Lord would open our spiritual eyes to enhance our ability to see and discern that He has already placed within our reach.
